What's the rationale behind not delivering people's orders? If the stores are still trading they must still be buying and selling stock. Why are they allowed to do this?

Sadly there is no rationale to this and at the end of the day they're getting away with legally stealing..

Yes I am one of those people caught up in this and have been told by the delivery company that the van was at the end of my road with my order on to deliver to me when he got the call to go back to the yard and my order that I have paid for was to be taken back to the hub where it will now be sold to someone else so they administrators can get back some money

How in the world can this be legal?? they are selling something I have paid for.. shall I just go and take something from someones house/garden and sell it to get my money back?? No.. that would be illegal.. I'm absolutely disgusted.. and Focus must have known they had a problem so took my money (and a lot of other peoples) under false pretences and yet this doesn't count as fraud..

this is a good one -

saturday I ordered a patio set from my local store as after they checked stock at all other closeish stores none had stock.
I went into a different branch today to ask if they had any more info now they say no orders will be supplied and no refunds will be given - but they had the patio set in stock.
this is the good bit, they wont give it to me to complete my order BUT i can buy it as a new purchase!!
So they have my money and stock but I cant have it, I said what if I walk out with it and apparently that would be theft and security would grab me!

aint the law a funny thing eh??

Correct, but VISA operate their Debit card guarantee in the same way as section 75 for Credit cards. It's a requirements of accepting payment in this manner that you understand that as a retailer.

Correct, but it's not in law as s.75 is. There's no legal requirement for the bank as it's a voluntary code.

But when you try and do a chargeback under Visa rules the bank won't process this as MOST staff are not aware it exists. I've been told this on two payment/item disputes and they said, tough, it's like paying cash.

What then retailer understands makes no difference, it's the two banks that process the chargeback/refund.

Never been caught up in a situation like this.

But, I work in retail and if I had paid for something, had proof of purchase and it was in the store, I WOULD TAKE IT.

Security would be committing assault trying to stop you and Police couldn't do anything if you had paid.

I'll ask my card handler on Monday (Streamline) I'm not sure it is as voluntary as you think. It is a requirements we sign a contract for as a Limited company that accepts cards.

The actual act of acceptance of card transactions is seen by our bank as a credit line - we take all the risk not the bank.

I have some vouchers to use at Focus but I have no idea yet what I want to use them on! I don't want to just waste them on something I don't want! What am I best to do? Are they still accepting vouchers does anyone know? Thanks

This is EXACTLY what happened to me, I ordered a patio set on Saturday (some items were taken then as were in stock), went in again yesterday to collect the remainder of the order and they wouldnt let me take it.

It makes you mad that you have paid for it but arent allowed to take it. I wonder if you could actually be arrested if you walked out with it. And is it a criminal or civil matter?

It says on their website that they are still honouring the vouchers, if it were me I would get in there asap to be on the safe side. I would rather have some goods than a pile of vouchers I couldn't use any more, go and treat yourself! :D

I'm talking about banks, not Ltd companies. Because it's banks that refund the money, not the retailer.
