Welcome to the real world. its not all about flat screen tv's and holidays to florida.
Are you saying you have been paid (into the wrong acct) or are you saying you wont be paid until may 16th?
When you left work did you get any pay to cover you till the 16th?
What is the reason they have given you for the late payment?

They have paid a total of three amounts into someone elses account and are saying I may as well kiss the money goodbye and next payment I may receive is 16th May.
Nice to see that working for all my adult life and paying my taxes means jack when you need help.

Ahh, that'll be because of their ages.

Have you informed tax credits of the change in your circumstances? If not, I'd do that ASAP.

Are the job centre looking into the payments that have gone elsewhere and that's why they have said you won't be paid till the 16th May?

My Dad and a work mate both got made redundant at the beginning of last month. His friend got JSA sorted straight away without giving them all the info they needed, whereas Dad gave everything and only got his first payment today.

Don't think they know their backsides from their elbows.

Hope you get it all sorted soon though :)

there is a free phone number for crisis loans- 0800 328 3036. if you are not aware, a crisis loan is an interest free loan available to people on benefits. repayments will be small amounts taken from your benefits each week (or fortnight or whatever :) ) this should tide you over until your JSA comes through.

  • This sounds like a nightmare! hope you get it sorted out soon. I'm sorry I can't be of much help but I would recommend the Citizens Advice.

Do not go down road of getting crisis loans when you are entitled to this money (as long as it IS their mistake)

That my friends is why they send a letter out with certain details about your bank account and ask you to check the information is right and if not to contact them straight away.

We have to hold some responsibility for checking their information is correct when they ask you to do so in writing.

I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Well after waking up with the flu and feeling rather rubbish i have been to firstly the Bank who confirmed again it is the payment centres error from the job centre and they must recall the funds.
Returned to the job centre explained this again (I am now in a total daze of how many times I have reiterated this) they still seem to think I am magic and can access someone elses account and retrieve the funds myself.
So next stop local MP but as we had local elections yesterday they can not help until the back end of next week so my next visit was to legal advise and het presto the job centre is wrong so another call to the JC along with the mention of solicitors and an MP on board (ish) thy have agreed to write to the bank and recall the money.
However I will still have to wait for this process and in the mean time I am not entitled to a crisis loan as I have apparently not paid enough NI funny seen as how I've worked since being 15. So this is also now being investigated.

So a big thanks to all who have given advise on this matter and to my Mum who helped a lot today. I shall keep you informed as to what happens next......... Thanks again

Crisis Loan has nothing whatsoever to do with payment of NICs.

No my letter of confirmation only stated you have chosen to be paid direct to a bank account and not the details.

It would appear then that different areas do things differently.

I hope you get the money back asap.
