We have a dandy folding camper ( google it) and it is flipping lovely! I'd definitely go for a fc over a tt - far more like a caravan to live in - comfy beds, under floor gas heater sink and cooker in the unit etc. However it isn't big- we take a pup tent for the kids to sleep in. I can put it up in less that 5 mins with held from my 11yr old for instance. the dandy is made of lorry siding quality PVC rather than canvas do will pack up wet without trouble and is extremely weatherproof.

    Couldn't agree more:D
We've got a Dandy folding camper as well:) They dont look as good as say the canvas type Fc's , because of their pvc covering, , but the great thing about them is you can put them away wet if you need to,- unlike the canvas ones which you need to dry out first.
We've had ours four years now, and absolutely love it.
When we bought it, it was secondhand, and we would love another one, no, but they dont make Dandy's anymore, and the ones for sale secondhand cost a small fortune:eek: They have almost become a collectors item! We may decide to go for a Conway next year, or the year after.

Tracking a couple of Destiny's on ebay to see what they go for. Mid 90's white and pale blue ones seem to be in right sort of budget. Wouldn;t really want to go older than that if nothing else because I'm not a brown and orange colour fan ;)

Only worry with the Destiny is moving around on driveway manually as we are on an upwards slope. I believe they weigh something like 750kg and you cannot fit a motor mover to these models

Off at weekend to have a look at a dealer to check out Conways, Pennines etc just to see a few in the flesh so to speak

:rotfl:it all comes back in fashion eventually lol

a lot of the new tents for this yr are of an orangey hue!

definitely go round a few dealers and check out the insides of both TT's and FC's so you can get a feel of what you do / don't like

we ended up buying on ebay ( with no problems!) but do your homework first

Hmm had a good look at a few different models over weekend at a couple of dealers. We now have our eye on a Trigano 575 for similar money to what you paid! Like you we had it in mind to start with a TT first and see how it goes..... dangerous to look ;)

The Conways and Pennine's were certainly nicer finished inside but the bid difference was bed sizes. The triganos have two 140cm wide slatted beds whereas the others at best only have one bed that size and one 120cm wide one

    Choices choices!

We did a lot of camping when the kids were home and finding ourselves with a couple of months free a few years ago bought a secondhand Conway Cruiser folding camper. Great time touring France and Italy. Liked the very comfy king size bed and quick set up for overnight stops. Didn't like cooking inside and time to put up full awning but the huge space was very handy in the rain.
Yes they are expensive but they hold their value and we sold two years later for the same as we paid, 3 years old when we bought and just under £5000, we used it for three trips abroad. Don't be tempted to buy a cheap one needing repairs, they are almost impossible to sell on.
Oh and check the towing limit for your car, many FCs are too heavy for small cars.

Replying late to this- we have a designer in the pale blue/white colourway. On aflatish campsite I've manouvred ours with a willing 10yr old to help. On a sloping drive I'd need my rugby playing 15yr old (I'm a pathetic weakling LOL) but manual handling is quite possible, unlike a full size caravan!

We endeed up with a Pennine Pathfinder as Trigano one we wanted sold literally as we were having a second look round!! Thing happen for a reason and having sat in both back to back the Pennine's are much nicer finished inside BUT you do pay for that, so we have a much older model but what appears to be in great condition

Pick it up this weekend - away following weekend! I've joined the CC - must be getting old!
