Hi. Me and partner have a chance to get away for 5 days in August without the kids....woohoo! Now we just need to know where to go? Shall be going Mon-Fri. Would like plenty of shops, bars restuarants....lots of nightlife, close by. Close to the sea would be nice too. I would prefer caravan/chalet/lodge but after looking around they seem way over budget for 4 nights. I don't really want to go B+B, but would take it into consideration. So any ideas? Will be much appreciated :-)

Im in Birmingham. Havnt really thought of a budget, have just been looking at prices at the moment. But i would like something considerably cheaper than £500, which is what caravan parks are asking for. Doesnt have to be a beach holiday as we have the car and so just a day out within easy driving reach to a nice beach would do just fine. Neither of us a big fans of walking and sight seeing...so next best thing (well for me anyway) is shopping :-)0

Does your OH like shopping?
Blackpool sounds like a good option, maybe consider a travelodge? If so, check which ones have parking, as that can be an issue, particularly somewhere bigger with good shopping.0 -

£500 on a caravan park isnt that expensive as they have to pay their fees /insurance /cleaning . Caravans let privatly on farms and farmers feild can work out cheaper.
have a look at holidayhomerentals4u http://www.holidayhomerentals4you.co.uk/england-c67.html for England:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
How about coming upto Scotland? Try visitscotland.com. Fife is a lovely area, (good enough for Prince William and Catherine!). It is close to Edinburgh and Dundee for shopping, many good restaraunts and bars - especially in the St Andrews area, and lovely quaint fishing villages and beautiful beaches. St Andrews has many lovely botiques, galleries etc. There is so much to do and explore around that area. The Borders and Dumfries and Galloway are two other lovely areas, but dont have the same shoppingg facilities.Every days a School day!0

I like the Torbay sands hotel in Paignton, it's right next to the beach on a dead end road and run by brummies Carol and Martin who are lovely and do very reasonable rates for sea view rooms. Plenty of pubs restaurants and bars and good nightlife, shopping good too.0
