Hi all

Swiftcover have come in with the best price now that I'm at renewal stage (that's for buildings and contents insurance).

I've done a search and it would seem most threads dealing with Swift are to do with their car insurance. Not much info or opinion about home insurance.

So I wondered if anyone would mind sharing their view of swift as a company for home insurance specifically, before I go ahead and take the plunge.

I am currently with Endsleigh....

For my part, so far my dealings with them have been good. The only downside being that it was hard to find a telephone number for them on their site. And once I got one, it was an 0871 and I could not find an alternative. Aside from that though.....

- the woman on the phone was very friendly and helpful with my inquires
- Swift do not charge you for making most changes to your policy if you make them yourself on line. Most companies charge quite a large admin fee for such changes to policy details.
- The "Valuables" limit is quite high and only includes valuables such as furs, coins etc. I found with some insurers that they bundle a valuables and high risk items limit as one. I'm a musician and have a fair bit of guitar and studio equipment (as well as a large record and CD collection). I therefore found that all this gear was not covered in some insurer's policy because such gear did not come under general contents.
- I sometimes found good quotes fro insurers but at the end of the quote process they said our door and window locks would need replacing to their standards within 30 days of policy start - something we do not wish to do. I wish they'd said this at the start so I did not waste my time getting the quote only to find this out at the end. I checked this and the stipulation is NOT used by Swift.

Many thanks

Max

Hello, dont if I'm too late but here goes..

Took out home insurance with Swiftcover, cheapest by miles, premium around £245, credit card bill arrived. They had charged me 7 TIMES for this insurance and are now (according to them) only going to repay this amount when they find out what has happened. Customer services are painfully slow, never been able to reach them by phone at all. Email responses always start with "sorry its taken so long, ...unusually high demand...blah blah"

I am now about to cancel the policy under my cooling off period, as it actually starts 12 May, and fight for a full refund, reporting credit card fraud if I dont get it PDQ!!

I just have a bad feeling about this and want shot of them asap now.

    Hope you have more success.
