Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For someone who works in a shop but not in retail???????? !!!!!!?Don't grow up. Its a trap!

It's not often you'll see a thread like this in here (it's the other way around!), but out of all of the sections of the forum it seems the most relevant place to put it!
I work in a shop which closes at 9 in the evening which it did. The place was extremely quiet and the shop itself hadn't had anyone it it for the last 10 minutes.
Anyway whilst putting the shutter down a lady in her 50/60's appeared asking what time we close. I always find that a bizzare thing to be asked whilst closing!
I said 9, she said "well it's not 9 it's 10 to!" She showed me her watch, which did say 10 to! I go by clocks in 2 locations. One outside on display and the time shown on the till.
The outside clock said 9 and I suggested that her watch seems to be about 10 minutes slow.........Oh no! It's always right!
Of course it was straight to "who do I complain to?" At that point I said I still have to do the tills so you can look around for a bit if you want but I was told "No, I just want to complain".
I read this board and see sometimes people have a point, sometimes they perhaps have hindered their problems with their own approach. It goes to show though that some people will just complain for the sake of it.
The facts above. 1) Her watch was wrong. But the second is the conclusive fact that shows it was complaining that was the only important thing. I actually offered for her to go in the shop for a short while whilst I did the tills, but no? So what did she want? The only thing left was she simply wanted to complain about something.
What can you do?
Quoted because he will edit it.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Because, sadly, this board has become like that. Its all personal. Say something and be attacked. Give a point of view and you are personally criticised.
Debate is dead on this site. Its all attack, counter attack, find some spurious statistics and attack again.
Its a war on this board I tell you!0 -
Thread necromancy so that two (or perhaps more) posters can score cheap points off each other. Interesting idea.
I have a suggestion: why don't each of you put the other on ignore. It might make Martin's site a more enjoyable experience for both of you. It might even improve the experience for people reading the site, too.0 -

Good idea. Either that or a public game of scissor, paper, stone to end this once and for all!0 -

the driver said to him that he was ten mins early and he then pulled his sleeves up and showed the driver 4 WATCHES (no word of a lie) on both wrists (2 on each) all showing 9am on the dot.
i couldnt believe my eyes and neither could my colleague who i used to get the bus with.
I can fill in the background to this story... at 8.40am, 4 people reported being mugged for their watches by an elderley gentleman.:p Nowt as funny as folk, especially old folk, bless. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE.
