Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday, 5th May 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone,
Hope I haven't missed an already posted thread.
Dinner tonight will be cheese omelette & salad. Will go and vote when I get back from work, so food needs to be something easy:)
Cool and a bit cloudy here at the moment, but I shall be inside all day, so I will not notice the weather. The garden is in desperate need for overnight rain.
Have a happy Thursday peeps. Hugs for those who need or want.
Cheers m'dears, Silver x

Good Morning Silvermaid and all to follow
Seems a little warmer here today :j the garden is looking nice, all the seedlings now planted and seem healthy.
Have wm repair man coming this morning sometime between 8-1. Have fingers and everything crossed that it can be repaired today and we don't have to wait for a part!
Once he is done will be off to vote then need to go and pick up a lorry with OH. Will also be finding a sainsbury's somewhere as we have decided to have a party for a friends birthday next week and they have some good specials on alcohol.
Something with chicken legs for dinner then off to DS' parent evening.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.x0 -
Morning Silver - and to all who post later!
Up ay 5am this morning - we are off to Scotland (via Durham for one night) today. Have emptied ironing basket again, and put DW on. Finally finished essay last night and emailed to tutor, so he did receive it by today! Have also printed off so will post hard copy as well. have sorted dogs' food into tubs for their holiday - they stay with a lovely lady in a nearby village who spoils them rotten! When our newest spent a day there recently we had to persuade him to come home! Much better than kennels, so means we can enjoy ourselves without worrying about them.
We may now have a clear loft, but there are boxes everywhere upstairs for me to sort. At least when we were doing a bit each day I could keep up with it. I'm sure most will find its way to the tip, but not sure it'll be done before we leave. Am looking for DS' "Little Professor". Anyone remember these? All the rage in the early 80's! We had one when we left our previous home but never unpacked it this end. I have always said it must have just gone straight up to the loft, so am keen to see if I was right! As an 8 year-old he was not happy - not sure he still feels the same way about it at 36!
We planted out some beans the day before yesterday - sadly we didn't expect the ground frost that evening! Think we've probably lost them Still, there is still time to start again when we get back.
Oh well, could be getting on with the sorting before taking DH his tea...
Have a good day and take care of yourselves.Resolution:

Morning all
It's overcast here today, hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten, DW unloaded, fish fed & beans unwrapped.
I shall pick hubby up tonight & we will go to vote then, I think we have a friend visiting tonight, or it maybe next week, I'm losing track, lol.
Thai chicken bake for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
A bit grey and wet here today, we really need the rain, and it would help the wildfires.
DD's drama performance last night was brilliant :T:T, they were all just about word perfect, real exam is next week so fingers crossed.
Dinner tonight is fish fingers and chips with peas or beans, nice and easy, then off to the village hall to vote.
Work today,so quick tidy round and dw on before I go.
Lou, hope you had a restful night, big hugs to you.
Have fun all xx0 -

(((Hugs))) to those who need it
Day off today and think I will do a little sorting out in the spare room before I have a wander into town to have a look round the shops, not that I am looking for anything in particular, just seems ages since I had the enthusiasm to look IYKWIM. Hairdresser coming this afternoon as I look like a shaggy dog and my roots desperately need doing - only costs me £20 for a colour and cut, so bargain really.
Future ex OH is calling then later today to collect post and some more of his things, he has moved into a new flat - sorry "apartment" now, so we will see how many more ways he can think of to try to torment me whilst he is here!!! Luckily it doesn't hurt like it did anymore, so let him bring it on!
Anyway hope you all have a good day, sorry I'm not posting as often as I should but I do read every day and try to post when I have a good day, as I am still very up and down at the moment, so trying to keep with the positive.

BB - had a few (quite a few) major bust ups with him last week (not a good week) anyway it resulted in me finally getting the key back from him. He says he is going to sort out redirection but seems to be taking an awful long time to do it and says that whilst ever he is the joint owner he has a right to come to the house anyway! At least now he can't just come and go whenever he wants which is what he was doing, and he was letting himself in when I was out which is the main thing I wanted to stop!"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"

Morning All!
Been awake since 4.30am:eek: Why is it now I'm retired I do this?
Anyway, had a shock last Saturday, my daughters' wedding reception v enue told me that the date was no longer available:eek:They had taken over from someone else and hadn't got us down, and rebooked it for someone else! Had to find another venue. After some frantic phone calls, I did, only to have my daughter moan about it. She's become Bridezilla:mad: Not talking to her at the moment!:o
Went to Wakehurst Place yesterday and had a lovely time in the gardens, being pushed around in a wheelchair by my cousin. Bought some plants in the shop too, they have to go in today.
My garden is now finished. Loads of slabs, just one small raised flower bed and a raised veg bed, enough for me to keep under control. Cost a lot, but it's worth it, as it doesn't need to be done again in my lifetime:T
WM and DW on at the mo, although iut is pretty grey here in Hastings today. Not like us, we get the most sun in the country usually!
Hope everyone is okay here, ((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if not.
Have a great day guys!

Morning all

Hope that everyone managed a good nights sleep. I woke at 6.20 to my 8 yr old hoovering the lounge :j She was talking away to herself and when I asked what she was doing, she said she was making the hoovering fun by pretending that she was in a tv show ... bless her
DD1 wet the bed again last night
she is going on a 4 night school trip soon and is worried bout it - but she's doing so well and only has an "accident" about once a week now. I keep telling her how proud I am of her.
OS wise, I'm following a bootcamp regime atm and all food has to be fresh so have been cooking a lot from scratch. Today will be mush, onion, tom omlette for breakfast, hm burgers and salad for lunch and then chicken, pots n veg for tea (kids will have hm chicken nuggets cos they wanna make something - but I'm not having flour).
After all my good resolutions about flying this week - I haven't started
I have taken all the paperwork from the mountain in the cupboard and sorted it in to piles - just need to put them away ...
After having a lot of stress a few years ago - I know that I need to listen to my body when I start feeling things are too much and I have to rest ... and that's how I'm feeling right now. It was recommended to me back then to just try and do at least one thing a day. This really helped me to get back on my feet and I've achieved so much since then - but today (apart from my regular clients) I'm just going to take it easy.
Hope everyone has a great day and big (((HUGS))) to all those who want/need them xJUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -
