Leaving -ve feedback on the 90 day deadline

I'd like to leave negative feedback for an ebay supplier whom has yet to supply my item after 4 weeks. They are bmg-ltd a powerseller with over 3000 feedback but a big percentage is negative due to excessive delivery times. They have also mutually withdrawn almost 100 negatives on top of their running total of negatives.

They spitefully neg anyone who negs them, (then no doubt argue for a mutual withdrawal)

If they have taken 3 months to supply an item and the buyer paid within 1 minutes of the auction ending they both end up with a negative.

I want to avoid this but would like to put my twopenneth in on the service.

Neutral is pointless, they sell so many things that pages disappear every other day & a neutral doesn't cut it.

Has anyone negged a seller/buyer on the 90th day and got away scot-free?

Is it 90 days from the purchase or the day the auction ends?

Does the 90 days start on the day of purchase/auction end as day 1 or on the subsequent day next full day?

  • I think the exact length of time is a bit random. I was in a similar situation to yours and tried leaving a neg 90 days after the auction (also 90 days after I payed using Paypal) and still got a retaliatory neg.

I assume you use the account for both buying and selling.

It was because of this sort of thing that I decided to get a second ebay account. I plan to use the second account for all my buying. If I get the odd retaliatory neg, it doesn't really matter.

Why not post a neutral reply and word it as if it was a -ve? Other potential buyers can still read it and be warned, I've done this many a time and the sellar is less likely to spite you back with a -ve.
At your own risk of course!

I have left feedback well after 90 days and have had it left after 5 months for me in turn, so if you are that worried then don't leave any.

I do like to leave a neg to warn other buyers, but frankly if it makes no difference then it hardly seems worth bothering. You still bid on the auction despite negs, so will your neg actually stop anyone else bidding?

The 90 days is not a cut-off point, it is merely the minimum length of time that eBay guarantee that you will be able to leave feedback on a transaction. In actual fact you can leave feedback on almost all transactions weeks or even months after this point. If you want to be 100% safe from 'retaliatory' feedback, I'm afraid there is no way. You've either got to pluck up your guts and leave the feedback that you want, or accept the seller's bully-boy tactics and keep your mouth shut. You can probably guess which I would advocate, but the decision is yours ...

If you have still not received the item why dont you go through the dispute procedure with paypal to get your money back?

I have done this twice on the 90th day & not got a retaliatory neg from sellers who I can see leave retaliatory negs.

I could go for/get a refund, but they do seem to neg people for that too!

I've been told it will arrive within 14 days, & whilst I'm not holding my breath this may be quicker then any other method.

I did think about a very bad neutral feedback but as people have said It'll fade into obscurity soon enough & what will be the point?

I may just write it off as a bad decision in the first place.

Slightly O/T but it does make me laugh when sellers ask me for feedback when they've given me none up til then. I've made my mind up never to give feedback until I have it first - if I'm the buyer - and I'm unanimous in that!

Also I do have about 5 usernames, but I always use them all for buying & selling - which isn't my initial intention but...

Thanks for all the help :)

If you're going to leave a very bad neutral, you might as well leave a neg. If he's the retaliatory type, you'll get a neg back either way.

By the way, it's a common policy to only leave feedback for your seller when you know they're happy. You obviously don't like that, but ebay do recommend that the buyer should leave feedback first. Paying isn't everything!
