I took out a new contract with Vodafone at the beginning of last month, I stupidly ignored peoples warnings against them and the problems have begun already.

The first payment for my bill was 19th April which came out of my bank by direct debit and if I log onto my account now my balance is £0.00 as my next bill hasn't been generated yet.

Today they have decided to cut me off and bar my phone from making calls and sending or receiving text messages. I needed to make a couple of calls whilst I was out in town but was unable to and also unable to contact Vodafone using the 191 number.

When I got home I phoned them from my landline, spoke to a very helpful lad who checked out my account and was also baffled as to why I have been cut off as was his manager by all accounts and both agreed there was no reason for this so said they would connect me again. This was 2 hours ago and it's still off and could be off for a total of 24 hours.

I got a text message on Monday saying my account was overdue and spoke to a customer service advisor who said there was no reason for this and it was just a system error and to ignore the message as no action would be taken.

First impressions of the company are not good and I am hoping that it will get better although i'm not convinced.

Anyway thanks Vodafone for the trip down memory lane I got from using a public phonebox, I had forgotten what that smell of stale wee smelt like.

Not being funny but you probably aren't cut off, it sounds like just the usual Vodafone network to me. I get no signal pretty much anywhere and the includes my third floor flat.

Vodafone gets the best signal of all the networks where I live.

It was barred, the lad I spoke to in customer service confirmed it. I must admit I haven't had any problems with signal so far.

It's all working again now but for how long I don't know.

Apologies I was just having a wine about how rubbish vodafone signal is where I live which is inexcusable IMO since its a fairly big city.

It could have just been one silly random mistake/glitch but I agree that this is not the way to start off your contract and leaves a very sour taste! Hopefully you will get it sorted soon. Can you keep us updated with what happens?

Well I got a reply this afternoon via Email and it seems that "that the suspension was placed onto your account at 2:30pm on 04/05 as a result of a credit alerts bar being placed onto your account. This was lifted on the same day at 6:23pm.
Looking through the notes on your account, I can only see the list of events that occurred at the time, there are no reasons quoted on the account as to why the credit alerts bar was added in the first place. Having spoken to our collections team when your bar was lifted, I can see that the credit alert bar was removed anyway, and this is not currently on your account, therefore it would not be re-added and will not affect you in future.

I can confirm that there are no late payments showing on your account and your credit history has not been affected."

So it just seems it was one of those things which will hopefully not happen again.

Many thanks to the Customer Service Representative on here for looking in to it for me and for the response. Most companies you don't hear anything back :)
