I have been working hard to get get my front garden looking nice for the past few years .. but its been a struggle being a carer, low money & some health issues of my own.. well finaly over the last 2 years its getting there but i have had some set backs like someone poured 5 litres of round up over my rosa rugosa hedge had to remove that .. then the local little ***** pulling up my flowers so this year i reworked the wire fence and put a gate up .. so far so good .

I was talking to one of my neighbours who i can trust and he was telling me that one or a few of the neighbours aren't happy about my front garden and are very jealous.. he said s*d them its up to me what i do but he thought he better warn me.. well yesterday i had a piece of paper rolled up in my gate. It was a note saying remember the weedkiller?? .. so i popped into my local police station to ask some advice and they said nothing they can do .. but best thing stop doing your garden  ... So i am not going to stop why should i, its my only enjoyment in life sad i know.. One of my mums other carer has entered me into our local councils best front garden comptetion .... so no pressure there then :rotfl:

Sorry for the rant .. i am just fed up of people who can be so nasty... :(

Here's some pics of my front garden ..

    It's a shame - nice looking garden.

I think your best option is CCTV. Of course, that might not be popular with the jealous types either. :(
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Such a shame there are such vile people out there and that you have them as neighbours. It must be very disheartening to see your hard work torn up or poisoned. Sounds like your neighbour might know more information than what he has given you, if he knows that people are jealous he probably knows who, might be worth another chat...
I agree with mrbadexample cctv would be an option but might be expensive and make them more determined. If only you could electrify your fence, that would give them a nasty surprise of their own. Glad you haven't hung up your gardening gloves in the face of this unsociable behaviour.

Thanks Daisy .. yes that crossed my mine too .. not 12v but 240v  ..

I will have a chat to my neighbour and see what he knows
  • I dont mean to raise alarm bells but it sounds a bit odd that the note arrived immediately after talking to your neighbour- if i was you i would keep quiet about the ctv and get it installed first.
then maybe tell the neigbour about the note and how shocked you were....see what happens next.
You sound like a trusting person tbh- in cases like these on tv they can be the most unlkely of people. i hope im wrong and it isnt your neighbour but if it isnt then its someone they know.
it all sounds rather sinister and the police should get off their butts to help- maybe they expect you to toss a few sofas on the lawn and burn them to fit in with the local riff raff:eek:

{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}} how pathetic of whoever it is and how shameful that the Police wont help. cctv is the way forward I think, but maybe the vandals will just put their hoods up. The only thing I can think of is to try to involve others in gardening and making their own patches nice. Is there a housing association? can they/you start a gardening club? seed swopplant swop etc?

not sure if this is of any help, but if you are in a housing association they can do things to help you, i had problems with neighbors and they arranged for me to have security lighting fitted, fencing and i also got CCTV, since all this the problems i had have stoped, i do hope that some how all your problems stop as i know how disheartening it all can be

How spiteful, you have my sympathies, it must have be very distressing. You have created a beautiful garden and it must bring a lot of pleasure to the vast majority of people who see it.
If someone was willing to fork out for a significant quantity of round up they must be very jealous indeed. It really really annoys me on your behalf  cctv may be the answer, it is possible that someone who has enough spare cash for 5l roundup does not wear a hoody.

I would contact the local paper and tell them everything, about what happened before and the new note. You want local sympathy and if it does happen again, the coverage in the local rag to get help to sort it out.
