Oscar 52, i've worked in the Fraud/Disputes department of a very well known bank for over 17 years.
It's a very simple procedure to debit ANY account and place those funds into a suspense account, thus removing them from the account where they have been placed in error, and holding them until the bank where they should be claim them. There is no Bank A or Bank B situation as far s the OP's post is concerned, he has money in his account which doesn't belong to him, his bank can simply remove it at any time, and probaby will at some stage. It's a very straightforward issue, nothing complicated about it at all.
How would you ascertain that the funds did not legitimately belong to the customer? Would you just take the other banks word for it and debit the customers account? Are you seriously telling me that someone can transfer money to my account - whether deliberately (cos say they owe it me) or by accident, (suh as mistyped account number) that the bank can just take it saying "we dont think its your money"No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Of course we wouldn't just debit a customers account without looking into what has happened. But the facility is there for the bank to debit an account if it is suspicious (money laundering etc) of where the funds have come from, or where it is obvious (as in the OP's case) that there has been an error. There are various references attached to payments and codes which indicate whether this has happened. If another bank calls to let us know that there has been an error, why would we doubt them ? I wouldn't expect another bank to doubt me if i had called them. There are security measures in place to make sure that we know who we are speaking to, it's not an issue.0 -
I would phone the bank and ask them to check if the transfers have been completed correctly as the figures are different than what you think they should be.
Or go on the lash:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
