My first Mortgage, want to be MF ASAP!

We finally completed last friday and are currently decorating. Apparantly I should get a letter with my first bill towards the end of this month!0 -
So here it is, I got my first mortgage bill and we plan to start overpaying straight away. We have an emergency fund of around £6000 and if you check my monthly budget that should grow slowly as we have a little cash left over for savings.
I've sorted out the gas/electricity/water bills so this is my final (hopefully accurate) budget (the 1050 going towards our mortgage is £550 + a £500 monthly overpayment)

£500 pm is impressive, and if you can keep to that you'll be making big dents in no time. Regardless of your SOA, if you can OP your mortgage by almost 100% every month you're doing very well.

Well done James - motivation is the key factor on these sites isn't it! Keep up the good work; £500 overpayments really will make a huge difference in the long term. CongratsFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045
Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 20370 -

I've been into the bank and set up a £500 overpayment standing order that's going out on the first of every month starting in September. Downstairs is all decorated now and our sofas should arrive next week or the week after. Upstairs should be decorated within the next week or so and then we're going to be moving in, how exciting!!0 -
More good news. My OH just got a new job with a 2k pay rise gauranteed and a possible (very achievable) quarterly bonus of £500. Happy days!!!0

New statement of affairs. The income is an estimate based on my OH hitting her quarterly bonus only once per year (bringing in £17k PA) and a slightly conservative estimate of my bonuses. My salary is 15k per year, but last year I earnt 17k in comission and this year I should earn about 24k in comission so I've used the average of mine, 35k PA total.

Long time no post for me, a fair bit has happened since I last posted here. My OH and I have so far comfortably overpaid by 500 a month but a spanner has been thrown in the work. My company has been bought out and new owners have reduced my comission. I did expect this, as I earnt far too much for what I do and it's still more than reasonable now. Last year I earnt just shy of 41k before tax, this is likely to drop to 25-30ish (not quite sure yet as a lot has changed so was conservative in the SOA).
Current situation is just over 93000 outstanding on mortgage fixed @ 4.39% for another 4 years 2 months.
We have between us just shy of 7k in savings (5k in 3.1% isa 2k in regular saver acc) just incase anything unexpected happens and the new SOA is below. Still pretty happy about it. Main question is what would you guys have as a minimum emergency fund? Reason I ask is that if any month we can't afford to overpay the full 500 on the mortgage I was planning on taking out of the regular saver. What

Overpayments are optional. The first thing I would do is settle into your new income and see how far it stretches. If you end up with £200 left over then make a one off payment against the mortgage but dont challenge yourself to hit your £500 target every month and potentially use up an emergency fund doing so!
