Good news, things have been delayed slightly for a few reasons but all is looking good now.
Firstly, Nationwide, who we are taking our mortgage out with sent my OH's employers a simple form to fill out about how she gets paid. there were about 10 simple questions and they managed to mess that up by answering the questions "how is she paid, weekly/monthly" and they answered "15000 per year". This was after they decided that her manager was not capable of filling it in and they had to send it to head office to do.
Good work!!
That's sorted now, after my OH had the letter resent and included a "how to fill this form in for idiots" section.
Also, my mortgage broker and the sellers estate agent were both on holiday last week
We have returned our contracts signed and also had our formal mortgage offer in writing so I'm guessing it wont be long now!!0 -

I think this was included in our buildings insurance, maybe not, maybe I need to check this!!!0 -
Also, with rergards to the mortgage, how do the direct debits work?
Does the DD get set up from the day we exchange and it is every month on that date?0 -
Quick question. My OH may change her job before we exchange, are we required to tell nationwide, as it may take her salary downwards?0

Try to not change the job before exchange - if she changes before you officially take out the mortgage then I imagine you may have to declare it.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

Right, I am alive

Been a few delays further up the chain (we are the bottom!!) but we should be exchanging over the next couple of days and have the keys when we get back off holiday (away from 4th-19th).
This delay does have its upsides though, we will now have 5k left over as an "emergency fund" if we should need it
Also, OH hasnt changed job

I'm glad the delay has had a positive effect on your situation - you seem so patient!
We were lucky to be first time buyers moving into a new property so it all went smoothly and relatively quickly. However, the house took 6 months to build and that was a little frustrating!
