iPad [or any Apple pdt] engraving takes away your return rights

Fair enough to say be careful if you order an engraved Apple product you cannot return it, but to call it sneaky is wrong and ridiculous.0

It's a nice touch having Ipod's etc engraved, but when looking on Ebay I always go straight passed the listings that say "is engraved with my name etc, but I've scrubbed it out".Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

Which is kind of obvious, even if you didn't have full knowledge of the DSRs or Apple's T&Cs so I still fail to understand why you think this is some underhand, sneaky move by Apple.

had my daughters etched, developed a fault, replaced no problem, just no etching (it's laser etching not engraving) they did state i could have it redone if i wanted to wait, being she was an impatient 15yrold then she opted not to:)0

Kev...you say 'not the case'...but you are mistaken.
You got it replaced not because it fell within DSR but because it 'developed a fault' - thus under SOGA .
I didn't say you lost ALL your consumer rights...merely the DSR right to return within 7 days if you changed your mind or felt it wasn't suitable.
So ...don't like it, no DSR/Apple 14 day return; broken - yes, SOGA return possible.
Different reasons, different regs, different outcomes.
