Want best texting pay as you go plan..

I currently have tesco mobile which offers 5p per text min topup of £10. So £10 for 200 texts if my calcs. are correct.

I got interested in if there might be better deals when someone told me about o2 simplicity which gives you unlimited for a month for £7.50.

I bought it but realized after that this plan is not suitable for me since you have to topup every month as the free texts won't carry over. I felt a little stupid as I realized that is effectively the same as having a monthly fee and also for not realizing this fact before.

It would be fine if I was constantly using my phone but I will have very sporadic usage in that sometimes I will text non stop for a few days/weeks but then go weeks and weeks not texting at all or only one or two- so the o2 plan I realize will not be suitable for me given this behaviour pattern.

Can anyone recommend a more competitive one than tesco's 5p per text given the above?

As mentioned it should be an 'endurance' :D/or true pay as you go where I can keep my credit to use when I want.

    How about Orange PAYG?

They offer "extras" which you can buy instantly via text message which get you a bundle of texts or minutes, using credit from your PAYG balance.

They have a daily text extra which costs £1 from your credit when you text "TEXTS 1" to 6620 - this buys 50 texts which you can use on that day - and if you go over that number, further texts are only 2p each.

They also have a monthly unlimited version which is £5. You can buy it for one month, but then never buy it again until you want to - more month-by-month flexibility.

If you make sure you're on Monkey, you'll also get a bonus top up reward with each £5 top up of 25 free text messages for that month, or a £10 top up provides 300 free messages that month. You can combine this with extras. Do note, though, that whilst bought extras are generally applied instantly, top up rewards can take 48-72 hours to be applied after topping up.

    Hope this helps.

Na the orange one sounds just the same as the o2 simplicity one right? where you only have a month to use it.

I actually went with giff gaff...my bad for not using the promo code...I forgot :D.

I ordered it online yesterday and it was in my box this morning :).

So I'm setup with them for now.

A nice miserly £5 topup to get me going :D.
