Exchanging pounds for euros in Germany

I'm going to Germany soon and will have £1000 in cash to convert to Euros. Is the exchange rate better there than in the UK? Also, is it straightforward to exchange cash at a bank or is it better to try to find a bureau de change?

You may wish to check that your travel insurance covers you for carrying such an amount of cash.0

The exchange rate is the same. Charges may differ.0

Stick the money in a bank account and use an ATM in Germany to withdraw it.0

Agree with 'alanrowell'. It is not a nice idea to take along this much cash along with you.0
