Boundaries

In most cases its impossible to tell the exact location of a boundary to within a few inches from the deeds. Noone "owns" any boundary. Anyone who is responsible for maintaining a boundary (eg by building a fence) should build such on their property inside the boundary and not on it. If the original boundary was marked by the old wire fence and you built your wall inside that then you are 100% in the right. Proving it to the neighbour's entire satisfaction is going to be interesting.

Complete and utter tosh. What are you talking about?Get a solicitor on the case immediately. You will also need a part wall surveyor becasue you are deep into Party Wall Act stuff. You made a seriously expensive tactical error when you worked on the boundary. It may seam repugnant to you but the iniquitous Party Wall Act puts you in the wrong. This is going to be expensive and if you neighbour is vindictive you won't be able to control the costs.
