I had a call today from a David Taylor of careyourpc.com, I was suspicious as he told me he was a support technical services operator working for windows to help speed up my computer. I asked him for his full name, telephone number and where he was ringing from. Tel number 02030515753, the call had an echoe and that automatically made me think it was a long distance call and not from Bradford as he had told me. I asked David (an indian sounding guy with average grasp of the english language) if he could give me his extension number, he told me his extension number was the same as his employment data number 2103121. He told me he wouldn't need to have my computer attaced to the internet as he could guide me what to do with the run bar etc, he mentioned words like infections and your computer is open to general internet traffic. I had no intention of letting him guide me to do anything because when I googled this company there were warnings about them as they were scamsters were a bunch of fraudsters. I told him he was a con trying to infect my computer and he calmy told me he was genuine.
Just be warned. Thanks Martin.:T

I had a call from this company today, only they are now called 24 Hours Support for Windows.
It was an Asian sounding guy who said he wanted to run a check on my Windows computer as I was receiving virus' and malware to my computers. I asked him for his contact number and web address, he gave me this contact number 02030515753 and the website address of 24hrssupport.com, he assured me that the company was legitimate, I said to him that I would be checking them out and he said he would await my call. Sounded really dodgy.0 -
We went through a few of these, each time keeping them on for as long as possible. I did notice that they were getting a bit more canny in detecting the wind-up. For some reason they have dried up.[1] With any luck at all I'm on a black list.[2]
[1] Apart from one whose accent was so bad I didn't have a clue what he was going on about [3]
[2] Fat chance, I should be so lucky.
[3] Since then we have got caller ID enabled and now ignore international calls.

I pretend to be German when I hear the tell-tale sign of "your computer is reporting signs of a virus", that soon gets them to hang up.0
