Can we get a reality check here?

Since when can one claim on a warranty because they have stone chips on the paint work?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Nobody is suggesting that. The OP was worried the warranty which may be needed for other things had been invalidated.

I have touched up the paint yes and think it should be covered under warranty

I thought it was clearly explained

The chipping (and is not just chips. It's an area of about 3/4 inches long that has corroded and chipped away) is caused by road debris hitting that area.

The problem has been rectified by Ford. All Fiestas built since August 2009 have a protective foil affixed to the problem area so that the paint will not chip there. If it was normal wear and tear Ford would not have needed to take action!

Furthermore I never had this problem with all my previous cars (and current other family car) and they were older than 2 years. This has been acknowledged as a fault with the paint and is NOT a random stone chip!
