When to book

Just in case anyone is interested, I thought I'd conclude this thread.
Over the past two months I watched Virgin have a flight sale at £450 and then, after it ended, go back up to £600. A week later, another flight sale. £440. Then it ended, back to £515.
This week yet ANOTHER flight sale. £387.
Booked.
Had I booked 'far in advance' I could have paid a fortune more. So it seems the answer to the question 'when to book' is as much of a puzzle as its ever been.0
