Bit of a technophobe and would be interested in this sort of phone as it looks similar to a blackberry. I am looking for a blackberry sort of phone but do not want to pay blackberry costs
Can anyone tell me whether you would be able to use this phone and connect with a wifi connection in wifi hotspots like macdonalds etc.
Thanks in advance
This phone has no wifi (in fact, it doesn't even have 3G).
This phone isn't for anyone wanting to use it for any sort of Internet use, it only has a (slow) 2G connection available.====0 -
Also available is the much spoken about San Fransisco for £69.99 plus £10 top up.This phone also has an excellent reputation.

Bought this for my daughter not long ago - it's a nice little phone. No good for people with big fingers though!0

the phone has opera mini built in as the os that most blackberry users are now downloading for better internet, it runs of gprs & its very fast with facebook, bebo, bbc, ebay all in there bookmark also has a update site on there bookmark to download there latest os also to download youtube player & all other apps for free, also if you are on giffgaff & you have a goodybag you get unlimited internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so if you go through the opera mini app built in to your phone then yes the internet is fast.0 -

The app cannot speed up the data connection, you are kidding yourself if you think that GPRS is fast, it's the equivalent of DIAL UP on a home connection (it's actually slower than dial up, GPRS is around 40kpbs, dial up is 56kpbs.
How many people would consider DIAL UP to be fast?
At it's slowest, 3G is between 300 and 400kbps.
I stand by my opinion, DON'T buy this phone as something to use for internet, it's going to be slow and frustrating.
The San Francisco mentioned above is a far better phone.
Just to add, OS stands for "operating system", Opera is not an OS, it's an app. The Rio does not use the same OS as the Blackberry phones.====0
