Mending a snapped bed slat?

they're sprung slats though arent they? do timber merchants do them?
My father-in-law glued and clamped several bits of some kind of board or veneer together, and they were varnished many times. He made them slightly longer than the gap that the slat came out of, so it bows upwards and is therefore sprung. Not sure if my explanation is very clear. They're stronger than the one's that snapped!
Not all bed slats are sprung though.0 -
Ormus's idea of splinting it and exchanging it with a very bottom one seemed pretty good to me.
(and it's very rude to use the word 'stupid')make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Take it into your local independent bed shop and ask if they have any spares.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

Don't strap it up. Thats a stupid idea. It will always be a weak point and go again. Take it out and take it to your local timber merchants where they will cut one to size for you.
He did say move it down to the last slat near the foot where pressure will be lower once someone is lying on the bed. This is a money saving site so seemed pretty sensible fix to me, at least in short term.
Replacing the slat shouldn't cost a fortune either so no stupid ideas as far as I can see0
