So are you saying that out of 1427 units you have genereated you were only able to use 351 units around the home?

That is much less than the 50% deemed exported to get your extra 3.1p and is also much less than loads of people are trying to convince peeps that oyu will use an aweful lot of your own generated power.

    Thanks

I do not have an export meter but would be very surprised if I used anywhere near 50% of generated. I am sure I would benefit from an export meter, do the electric companies accept "export readings" or is it fixed at 50%

We don't have an export meter but a direct comparison between last year's kwh used for this quarter and this quarter this year shows consumption down on average per day by - 18%!! And I'm trying reasonably hard to use what's being generated and I work from home.

We installed for the Fit not the electricity saved which is just as well but it certainly rings alarm bells for those on rent a roof schemes.

August (my first full month) was 7% above expected generation from PVGIS data.

Quite pleased as we all know how poor the August weather has been!!!

If you have an import/export meter in place of a standard meter then they will accept export readings, but these are rare in domestic installations, even those with PV systems.

I would expect them to charge £££s to replace your meter with an import/export at your request (just a guess). If so, you'd need to do the sums to make sure it's worth it.

If they charge me probably not worth it but I am sure I dont use 50% of what I generate

No i choose to use as little as poss of all electric sources, perhaps my usage is not normal but EVERYTHING i don't need during the day is switched OFF, as i figured out very quickly that i was exporting a lot more than 50%. I have been one of the lucky ones and managed to get my leccy co to fit a import/export meter free of charge

daily use before solar was fitted was 11kw

daily use after solar fitted 3.5kw

so thats 7.5kw of solar power used and 7.45kw exported :j
