Because companies like Wonga live or die based on their T&Cs, they specifically arrange their contracts and procedures in this way because a significant percentage of their customers are high risk deadbeats and they need to cover themselves when they start complaining that they have to repay.
There is a reason why the guy that owns Wonga is absolutely minted, took a great idea and he ran with it0 -
ive been seriously done by these sharks at wonga for a loan obtained by my ex that i knew nothing about, they have just decided to wipe my whole wage and then some sending me £250 in the red 8 months after the loan using a card number i had cancelled in november 2010 i suppose il get a deluge of non helpful comments like ( you should have had your crystal ball tell you you was with a wrong un ) ive been left with nothing cannot pay bills or eat and my fuel tanks nearly empty dont know how im going to get to work next week ive complained and got no where they are such an arrogant set of non entities so gone to cab for help who will assist me with formal complaints to oft, fsa, and fos, and before the know it alls start with their pearls of wisdom i have been advised that i would not be able to secure a fraud prosecution against the ex because of this individuals mental problems and its very hard to prove on an online application so only helpfull replies please0

Surely you just say to Wonga "Look, I didn't take this loan out, go after the person who did". And that should be the end of it?0 -

Okay two questions.
If the card was cancelled in November 2010 how did your ex use the details to get the loan?
Secondly if she used your card and details then presumably the money went into your account how did your ex get her hands on it?
Whilst Wonga may have dropped the ball on the card front the majority of the blame lies with your ex unfortunately0 -

Please at least attempt to punctuate your sentences, that was like trying to read something scrawled on a provincial bus shelter.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
This isn't a grammar/linguistic board so I don't see the point in making posters feel challenged with their grammatical abilities. I could read the post very well with or without commas, apostrophes etc.
For what it's worth, I agree with geoffky - the Wonga directors have, sadly, found a niche in the market which exploits people who have reached a desperate stage in their finances.0 -
I've moved my salary and direct debits to a different bank account so that wonga can't continue to take money from my debit card. I'm going to treat them like my other debts (i.e. fairly and as advised by national debtline) and make an offer to pay (but not give them my new card details).
I'm trying to pay off service charge arrears (have cleared all my priority debts now- just got a letter last month saying I had paid off my water bill arrears under their payment matching scheme), so I don't want Wonga taking money from me when there are more important debts to pay. I know I was stupid borrowing money from them- never ever ever again! I made an offer to pay off my service charge in two rather large (but affordable) chunks and they accepted my offer. By the end of July, I will have no priority debts and can concentrate on getting shut of my credit debts once and for all.
Lesson learned: always read every single letter of terms and conditions and be very selective of who you give your card details too. Also, payday loans suck!0
