If she's OK finishing on a normal school night why do you think she won't be OK when she has a test (not exam) the next day?

Because I want her to have early nights before her tests.

She is going to her swimming training on the days it finishes early enough to not impact on that, but there are 2 nights where her dancing and swimming don't finish until 9pm and I think for 2 weeks it won't kill her to miss it and prioritise school. Swimming training is tiring, as she does 1.5hr sessions of intensive training. She has only just started doing such intensive training, and I did say if it started to have an impact on school work it would get cut down. That would be the same whether it was normal schooling or test week to be honest.

as a teacher- tell her exactly what i tell my pupils. SATS are not there like GCSEs and Alevels to give the students results, they are there to test the school and the teacher.

Thanks - she is my eldest and I've never come across SATs before so I'm not really sure about what they involve :o

I just really want her to be her best - she is quite comptetative to be honest and will feel really fed up if she doesn't do as well as she expects to. If the best thing I can do to help her is make sure she has plenty of rest and early nights so she is on 'top form', then that's what I will do.

We haven't had anything for spellings, science, literacy etc.

You say you're not sure what's involved in SATs so I've popped back to tell you that there is no longer a science test in Year 6 SATs!

They involve doing a papers the same as she has already been doing, in a normal classroom setting over a number of days. As the test are over 2 weeks the children may not (should not) even know which are practice papers and which are the real tests.

I appreciate the school may have made you, and your daughter, feel that these test are so very important, but they're not.

Yes I feel quite anxious about them on her behalf. She doesn't seem too concerned, which is good. I'll just stick with the early nights and try not to pile too much revision on.
