Is it unreasonable to ask Clarks to cover travel costs?

Options
Opinions please. Next door neighbour has bought her lass shoes and boots in the Clarks sale. She has just opened the box for her daughter to try them on and she has been given 2 left feet.

She will have to make a 45 mile round trip to take them back which she's annoyed about as it's Clarks fault. She's adamant she is going to ask them to cover her costs but I'm not sure she'll get anywhere.

  • It's worth a try, the worst they can do is say no.

If she walks I'm sure they'll cover the cost of wear and tear on the shoe leather.
Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !
  • Why not phone and speak to the manager first???

That's a long way to go for a pair of shoes, but I'd agree with the previous poster who said give them a ring first. Friendly but firm, not all guns blazing (I appreciate that she is annoyed but mistakes do happen). Or it might be quicker/cheaper all around to do it by post maybe?

    Good luck.

You have nothing to loose by asking. My friend bought a top from Asda and when she got home the 'security' device was still attached. She called Asda and they said to go back to have it removed and they gave her a gift voucher to cover the petrol and time. (It wasnt that far tho!).

Could she not post them back and ask Clarks to post the new ones back to her?

Well once I checked the stock for two print carts in PC WORLD, not available in my local one.

Were available in a store with 10 mile round trip. Went there to find out only one in stock. I complained at time and the nice lady took off £5 from total. More than my travel expense.

Its better to complain than to suffer....

I would definitely speak to a manager or assistant manager, they are the only people able to decide. Good luck!
