Does entry system not work mean the main door is unlocked or is it still secure?
Originally, the rent was advertised at £575 - she said from the beginning the landlord would accept £550. When she confirmed we could get a lease (because the whole block is/was up for sale as an investment), she said it would go up to £575, back to the original advertised price. So I don't know. It's all very coincidental though.
And no, the entry system is for the buzzer/intercom - the door has a handle that can only be opened from the inside if the person outside hasnt been let in.
Ground 14 for eviction: the tenant has been guilty of conduct that is likely to cause nuisance or annoyance to neighbours
Another possible clause to quote the LA?0 -
All those grounds are potential methods for the LL to evict the T...
IF they are bothered in the first place. If they aren't then you have to resort to the long game of continual complaining to LA/LL/Council EH/Police. To some extent you have to be brave and stand up to it, at least through official channels. At the very least make complaints of harrassment with 'gay hate' motivation - the police should be more sensitive to such things these days.
Dope sounds quite likely... takes a lot of electricity which is why he probably is so keen on the communal supply. Follow up with the police assertively.
Oh, and as suggested WRITE to your LL (not just LA). He is the only person who can evict anyone, the LA probably doesn't care that much as they will get fees if you are in and fees if you leave and they have to find someone else.
Try neighbours from hell forum too, may get more ideas there.0 -
Very sorry to hear of your problem.
Sounds like you are a very nice guy. If someone was behaving in a manner such as this in my block I would batter him. Deeply unprofessional and wrong I know but its all some people understand.
If you cant do it get someone else to! Again, not good advice but this kind of disregard angers me and I hate bullies!
I hope you work something out.Mortgage overpayment01/05/11 - 31/12/2011£5000/£7000End of 2012 target£84000 -
My sister had a similar problem. She took a plug apart, took one of the prongs out then went and shoved it in the socket, jamming it right in (Obviously it was switched off first). It did the trick. El bullio couldn't use the plug anymore and no-one had any further problems.
I'm not saying THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO, but that's what she did.0 -
Thanks...
Will see if anything happens tonight.
Definately going to ring the LA tomorrow and see what they say.0 -
Writing is better than ringing.
Ring but back up in writing.0 -
If it smells of cannabis, maybe he's growing it? Surely the police would be the course of action.0

Have had a reply from the LA who say they are disappointed that the tenant has not taken on board what he has been told about the electric, and even more disappointed with the way he spoke to us.
They say they will speak to him again, and she will also talk with her manager about possibly serving him notice, although it would take 2 months, but it might be the only option.
So... fingers crossed.0 -
If it is the same landlord then you might wish to point out that it would be better to serve him notice than get to a point where you, as a good tenant, have to give notice to leave yourself. He will have a void either way so best get rid of the wrong'un.0

What is he plugging into the socket?0
