At least it was cheap, so you have not really lost anything...
proper dealer, pitch, cabin, cars, website.. not some backstreet dealer.

I am wondering what your insurance position is... does one have to inform the insured of a Cat D? In one claim I made when I was rear ended, the insurer did the check and found I'd bought it many years earlier unwittingly as a Cat D (private seller), the ins still paid out a reasonable write off amount but refused to consider repairing it or even selling it back due to the Cat D status and the amount or previous repair work.0

Did you get a good deal? Hard to tell as you don't mention details of what you chopped in, but if you are happy overall and got it at a great price, let him fix all the bits up and enjoy it.
If it is just an average trade, get your money back, he'll know exactly what misleading by omission is and he's hoping the distance between you will just make your complaint fizzle away.0 -

No need to tell them, though if it goes missing or gets written off the ins co will pay out less than if it was a straight one.
