Do you do your food shop online and live in a flat?

In the paper the other day it said Sainsburys drivers have been told they don't have to take shopping higher than the first floor without a lift, the other major supermarkets all said their drivers would.

Whether you'd get that level of service in practice is open to debate, but that's what they're advertising.

Re Sainsburys - I was at the hairdressers last month and they had a delivery of drinks/cleaning stuff. Their kitchen is at the basement level and the delivery drivery said he wasn't allowed to take it downstairs because of "health and safety".

In my previous flat I lived on the third floor (69 steps from street level) and Ocado always offered to deliver to my flat. I always helped them, and sometimes turned them down if they were obviously in a rush and I needed the exercise! I still use Ocado now - I've tried all the others and found them to be the most reliable.

Tesco never offered, not once. When I had a big order I once asked if the driver would help me as he was young and strong looking - he did, but very grudgingly. Anyway, I eventually ditched Tescos when I came home one night to find that they'd been (and gone) early - they had dumped my shopping in the hallway and left a trail of broken beer bottles over the front steps.........
