OP - if (for whatever reason) they are unable to deliver it to your door, some Tescos now have a 'Click and Collect' system. You can order your whole shop online and then collect it from the store, which might be a good compromise between sending your husband and actually getting what you want!

OP, as you have a husband who can help, why not just order for when he's there? Then if there's a problem with bringing the shopping to your flat, your OH can carry it. :)

You do need to tackle this problem from both sides, though, don't you?

When you need to send DH out for nappies, because you've run out or the LO has suddenly grown out of the size you have, you don't want him to come back 2 hours later with the wrong size and a new TV, do you?

Confiscate the paper, or say that he can have it when you're done, and insist that he HELPS! In a way which is HELPFUL to you. Point out that those beans are on special, so you are buying 3 tins not 2 this week. Explain that yes, it is boring, but SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT and the sooner it's done the sooner he can have his paper back.

ATM he has no incentive to get it right, does he?

That's a bit harsh - I think the OP meant the comment to be lighthearted!

I've only had good experienes with delivery people. I once had a tesco delivery arrive 3 hours early though - and he driver said if Tesco rang me could I not mention it, he wanted to finish early because it was his birthdy :rotfl: but he was lovely and really helpful so I obliged. Tesco never rang me anyway :rotfl:

I live in a second floor apartment, and shop with Ocado, the drivers have always been happy to carry the shopping up two flights of winding stairs (it's a very old building).

Ocado do have much better service, and to be honest, I wouldn't bank on Tesco etc to do the same.. could you call them and ask?

When I lived in a 2nd floor flat I got ASDA to deliver, and they brought it to my door. The trouble was, the idiot driver would decant the stuff from his plastic trays into about 100 carrier bags before bringing it up. One time I got a carrier bag with just a single garlic bulb in. Madness...

Asda also delivered to my door when I was living in a 2nd floor flat in the UK with no lifts.

well maybe, but there are enough men out there who make sure they are never asked to do X, Y and Z because they make sure it's more trouble than it's worth if they do things they don't actually want to do!

DH hates shopping, because he knows he won't get exactly the right substitute if the one I want isn't available. He also knows I won't make a big deal out of it, but I will tell him 'for next time' ...

Bugs me slightly that I knew what the boys do and don't like, but I seem to be the only one who does! or the only one who cares ... youngest is just off back to Uni now, so shopping becomes less necessary! :rotfl:

we live one the 3rd floor and had shopping delivered twice from tescos. the 1st time it was all in bags and the driver helped my OH carry the bags up as he is on crutches and i was in work. the second time no bags( did request) and there was me and my OH so didnt bring it up although im sure he would have done so if we had asked.

both times the driver has phoned us to tell us he was rund the corner and then we buzzed him in.

great experiences with tesco, it does say when you set up the delivery about living in a flat 2 levels or over

When i live in a flat all (tesco, asda, sainsburys) did deliver right to the door with the exeption on 1 driver who asked me to collect it and I point blank refused. (9 months pregs crutches with spd i could barely stand) and he grudgingly brought it up. I was 2nd floor too, about 40 stairs
