CEX store offering me a fraction of the advertised price

Took in stuff that would of got me £120 cash according to website inc a DS lite which has had only a few hours usage since I got it 2 years ago and never used touch screen so looks brand new to be offered £8 for it(says like £37 on website)

And rare games like Twin Snakes which is brand new but not sealed to be offered like 50p for them despite website saying like £14.

2 sealed PS3 Tekken 6s was offered £3 for them both

I am a collector of stuff so keep my things brand new but in the end got offered like £35 for all my stuff and when I queried it was told my items were in bad condition, the website was out of date etc.

Would you complain about this? And what are you thoughts.

They can offer you whatever this wish. It is up to you whether you choose to accept that offer.

Yeah I was gonna just fed up with people on Ebay starting disputes for the smallest reasons and after fees getting little.

I had one person return a psp slim I bought brand new and had little usage of and had everything including the plastic covers and manuals saying it stank of cigarttes and I must be a smoker

I dont smoke and live on own in flat! Had another buy a broken ps3 then try and open a item not as described dispute!, and others wanting a rare item which everyone else lists for like £80 and I ask for 60 offering me like £30!

People want a bargain these days at others expense.

One of the games I was offered 50p for sells for £30-£50 on Ebay and about same on Amazon so shows how tight CEX were.

I have only used CEX on the postal side, and never had a problem. Might be worth doing it that way? I know what you mean about the hassle of ebay, I can bet that if I sell five items at least one buyer will be difficult. I even had a woman who could not see why postage to the US would cost more, and rather than discussing it just kept sending 'Please adjust postage' messages!

I had sold a rare game going back about 3 years ago, it was a US version of a game(both the US and UK versions were rare and I had both) the person won it for like £45 then I got a message later saying they just realised that pounds and dollars were totally different so they wanted to cancel sale!

CEX stores are all franchise's so I wouldn't expect them to go along with what the website says. It's just like McDonalds Franchises they all charge different.

I would definitely complain to head office. Cex are quite a big company now and I would think they would want to have similar standards and prices throughout the chain, franchises or not. I can't find anything on their website that says in-store trade-in prices may vary from those on the web site.

I guess they could could justify it if, say, they already had 20 copies of Mortal Kombat on the shelves, but that doesn't sound the case. £8 for a DS lite is taking the p. Did they know you had looked online? Sounds like they thought they could offer you low prices on old games thinking that you didn't know the value of what you had.

They have a statement on the website (http://uk.webuy.com/stores/):
Note: Prices on the website may vary from those in our branches. If you want to check store prices before setting out on a long trip, please contact us.

I obviously missed that bit. Bit of a difference between £37 and £8 though. I think the OP would be better trying Game and Gamestation and the other independent stores, though it's hassle trekking round shops. Personally I am the kind of person who would rather keep stuff or give it to charity, rather than sell it cheaply for someone to make a big profit on, even if I only use the things occasionally.

I imagine that if the local CEX branch has 1001 DS Lites on the shelves and in the stock room then they are not going to offer the full price.
