I'll try not to bed it too much, though it will need to go around the wall quite a bit! I might splash out on two of them - just in case I manage to duff one of them.

    Yeah - lol I mean telly! :)

...hey I tell ya what - the amount of cables for potential connections I'm gonna have in here is gonna be unreal!!! Luckily they don't cost much - unless ya go for super duper connections etc.

    Thanks

One big thing to remember is that a lot of extra features are being built into bluray players , guess to make them more "necessary" to joe public. So, many features that you mention are common now on bluray sets.

Thank you. I might also end up with a MAC mini to plug into it. Then I can use a wireless keyboard etc and apple remote for music / dvd's etc etc.

    Something to think about :)

There's sooooo much choice out there and varying features. It's not an easy decision!

Does anyone think it's worth paying for the extra guarantee on sites like richer sounds?

Alienrik - I quite like the fact that your 'recommendation' is quite a good bit inside the budget, as opposed to being right up at £400. I am willing to look at TV's over the £400 figure as I might be able to get some sort of discount when purchasing? Anyone got any suggestions on TV's a bit over the £400 mark?

I will also need a wall mount.

Does 1080p HD ready mean full HD then? As I thought there was a difference between HD ready and full HD a while back? Unless I'm dreaming this - which is indeed possible.

    Also - what's a scaler?

    Had me worried then!
The samsung is FULL HD 1080P (the HD ready part is just confusing the issue)
A scaler scales content to fit the tvs panel. A dvd must be 'stretched' to fit a 1080 panel for example. As does 720P content. This stretching is called 'scaling'. Poor scalers lose detail in the process. Very good scalers can make well made standard dvds look almost hd

Im sticking with the samsung personally as spending another 100 quid isnt going to gain you anything so far as im concerned. If you want to truly beat the tv youd need to double your money

Why do people want a TV in their bedrooms, it should be a place of calm with no intrusive electrical waves flying around........

Great - I thought it was, but wanted to double check!

Right! That makes sense. So I just need to check the scaler values?

Great advice there mate - really appreciate it. I've seen a lot of people have bought these sets on the avforums when I've searched on there. I think it's most likely I'll go for one! :j I'd like to see one in the shop, though as you say (and I've heard from other sources) the sets are not correctly setup in the majority of shops.

So I need an optical cable for my sound and a wall mount. I'll have to check the vga / dvi connections also.

REALLY appreciate a bit of feedback, help and honest opinions mate. :T

    Thank you.

A good point - and I have thought about this. Probably due to being lazy / or because we live in a society where media is so accessible. As much as I don't know about TV's, I'm actually quite into technology. I need to have access to music at most times when I'm relaxing. I listen to more music as opposed to watching tv etc, though I do like watching films in bed etc.
