Id suggest joining a gym. My local one arranges loads of social events and ive met a few friends there.

Instead of doing a college course have you looked into dance classes. I use to go along to salsa classes. Absolutely fab way to spend an hour. Got to know loads of people in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

How are you confidence wise? Would you consider joining an amateur dramatics club.

    Good luck with it all.

Like the others have said. Think about what activities or hobbies you like (or want) to do, and look for local groups that do that activity.

woman and home forums have supper clubs and walking groups and book clubs around the country.
