Hi I live in a housing association upstairs flat my entrance is downstairs I have a carpeted hallway and I noticed the familiar slug trail on the carpet although I have never actually seen a slug on the carpet. I also noticed a slight gap under the front door so I had that sorted with the housing association, so I thought that would be the end of the problem. But once again the trail has appeared on the carpet, and I cant think where the slug or slugs are coming from! I am mystified so has anyone any suggestions how I can eradicate the problem. Thanks

When I lived in a terrace house, I had slug problems in the kitchen, slugs have a habit of entering a property in the evening, their trails act as a good marker for other slugs to follow. After sealing entrance from the back door, I found they were getting in via a small gap in the brickwork that led under the sink units, from there they could wonder around the whole kitchen.

How I stopped them, was by lining the door entrance, outside walls surrounding the kitchen, and under the sink units. (generally follow the trails to their immediate entrance source, and target those areas with salt), try lining the base of the skirting boards with salt, include the door entrance, this should stop them getting in.

We have a theory ours are getting in through the airbricks, so have just bought some wire mesh and No Nailed it to the brick work. So far the number have reduced, so what's in now could have been inside already IYSWIM, hopefully the number will keep falling ;)

Every morning i get up and the kitchen mat has snail/slug trails on it.... they hide under the kitchen units and come out at dark. I found one the other night when I went in to put the kettle on. Sadly I found it with bare feet *boaks*...
I salt the edge of the units now down by the baseboard and ensure there are no scraps of food anywhere...
But the baby ones can literally get in anywhere.. they're hard to eradicate. A little dish of beer does the trick too they climb in and drown..
