Its so nice to hear a good story about shop staff and not just the moaning that occurs ever so often.
Glad everything turned out ok, I hope your message does get passed on. Its lovely when someone sends an email or letter to show their appreciation.
  • I have locked my 2yr old and my newborn in the car on a very hot summer day I was just leaving a mother and tots group and everyone tried hard to break in to my Ford Galaxy but It took the police and a truncheon to break a window in the end. It is a complete nightmare. Good old Tesco staff!
  • A parking warden once helped me out when I locked my keys inside my car. . . . . . a long time ago!
  • I left my lights on while at Tesco's just over a year ago - great place to break down as they called RAC out for free! This was just over a year ago, so not sure if it's still their policy, but I'm sure someone else on here will know! I'm surprised they didn't do this for the OP, but nice to know they helped out anyway!

i used to work for ASDA when i was 16 - 17 and a customer aftre filling up with petrol had dropped her keys down the drain, been 6ft 2" (long arms) they called me from the store and asked if i could help. I got some long gloves (up to my elbows) and took off the manhole cover; and it stunk, it really really smelled bad, but i stuck my hand in.

I couldn't feel the keys, so went deeper, then deeper, then........... i felt the cold, cold chill of all that waste flow into the gloves and fill them up.

I found the keys, was stinking of human waste, the woman took the keys said thank you, not "Oh thank you thankyou i don't know what i would have done", just "thanks" and drove off. Never heard nothing else after that :(

So nice to hear a story like this & that your son is ok, i'm with Asda & have never once in three years had a customer pass on a compliment & i've gone well out of my way, even in my own time on many occasions. It's lovely to hear a compliment even to Tesco!

I did hear them say something about calling the RAC so maybe it is all free still.
I am so stupid though as i heard someone else that i knew had done this on a very hot summers day and thought i wont throw my keys in the car again but i still did after that(thus yesterdays fiasco!)
And the poor Asda person with thier hands down the drain. Thats awful. I just said thanks very much and gave my little boy the sweets and drove off. Sounds pathetic but i think i was in a bit of shock. Cried and gave him a big cuddle when i got home though and im ordering wine for the 3 staff that stood out(from Tescos of wine club of course!)
