That's what I thought when I bought them last year... but I found that they weren't strong enough for what I needed them for... They would have been fine for young plants but not for my established garden.

I've not had that trouble of them not being strong enough, but then i do tend to use a lot of twine with them to make frames for peas and beans to grow up etc so that probably helps to keep them from falling apart!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I find it's how you look after your canes which helps them to last. When you have finished with them, dry them thoroughly, then store in a dry shed over winter. Preferably hung up and not touching any part of the shed.
I have to say that I was surprised as well... What actually happened was that when the plastic coated ones were put in the shed for the winter, the bottom part that had been in the soil - the plastic was split from the metal inside... It wasn't apparent at the time .. it was when I went to use them this year ... that the plastic fell away.... Honest, it wasn't through neglect....

What you really need to do, is get your own bamboo plant or two set up. I wish I had the space.
Please don't! It's awful, invasive stuff that you can never get rid of! Our last neighbours planted it and I never managed to kill it off.
Our local Factory Shop was selling 8 4ft canes for £1.25 the other day. They didn't have any longer ones though.

I'm not sure if you can get rid of it or not, but most things you can get rid of if you try hard enough and if you want it there anyway, what's the problem?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
