I too was mis-sold Damage Liability cover. I was told in no uncertain terms that if I did not take the DLC I could not have the goods. I have recently had cause to complain about a footstool I bought to go with my sofa (which I finish paying next week. Thank God, the thing has not lasted the 3 years it has taken me to pay it off and I hate it). when I bought the footstool I was told it was going to be a certain price as they would knock money off because it was an ex display model in another store they would also knock an amount off since they no longer did that particular footstool and the fact that it had taken a while to actually find one. as my sofa is due to be paid I asked for a final figure for the footstool but still owe triple the amount I was told I would get it for!!! when I complained I was told if I show my home insurance they would give me back £10 which is the DLC I have paid on it. I once showed my home insurance and was told it did not cover the right things to be valid and I had to continue to pay DLC. I queried the DLC and what it covers and to my horror all it does is pay the store what you owe on the product. it does not replace your product or repair you actually get nothing at all from it, if anything were to happen to your product it pays the remaining balance to your account and that is it. so I could well have paid £4000 on my sofa with only a few payments left and my sofa was burned in a house fire I would still have no sofa but " at least you won't have to worry about your payments to us" I was told. and even after all that it depends upon the manager of your store to accept the DLC payment if he/she doesn't want to you WILL have to keep paying the payments. this is all wrong I feel like such a fool and they would owe me thousands back if I were able to claim the DLC I have paid0

I don't see how that is mis-selling; the goods belong to BrightHouse until you've paid for them in full, and as it wasn't covered on your house insurance as it was a hire purchase item, they are allowed to cover what is theirs but bill you for it.0

If you have a look at the FAQs on Brighthouse - http://www.brighthouse.co.uk/faqs/ - you will discover that they no longer offer DLC - "If you took out your agreement after 2ns September 2013 we now include a similar range of benefits as a standard part of our service and it is included in your weekly price."
Something tells me that they wouldn't have done that unless there was some mileage in making a complaint. Just a thought.0
