Alternative to Lloyds TSB

Gosh if its only a 2nd account, you sure seem to rely on it loads which is weird as its only a 2nd account.
Why not get a 2nd account with HSBC with a card if you are happy with them?
The reason I mainly rely on it is that money is placed into that account, as it earns 2.5% interest. With HSBC I only have a savings account which earns around 0.5% interest, plus the fact that I always use my HSBC card and I have yet to use my Lloyds card and as such if fraud were to occur on one account it would most likely be the HSBC account where I keep the balance at the point where I need it.
I have never actually thought about getting a second account with HSBC, as I wasn't aware they would allow multiple "MyAccounts" and I figured you would always need a full current account. The only potential issue with this is if I have two accounts with the same bank, both cards would be exactly the same (without reading the numbers) and I can imagine myself thinking I forgot my PIN when in fact I was using the wrong card

Here's the answer
The problem I find with Lloyds TSB is that although the internet banking is fine in the day time, any time beyond 9pm and you will always have unreliable service. I understand that they need to do upgrades but it has happened 5 times in one month, especially as I haven't once had problems with HSBC and I often call at the same time.0 -
Which account with Lloyds earns 2.5%? What is the name of this account?
For a 17 yr old, your financial needs must be huge if you have been inconvienced 5 times in the last month with the internet banking being down. Can't ever say I know of any others who have had this problem. The internet banking is updated at nights around 10pm.
In your first post you said you had a current account with HSBC in your last post you said you only had a savings account. What have you actually got with HSBC?0 -
Lloyds pay 2.5% on their U19 bank account.0

I currently have a current and savings account with HSBC, branded their "My Savings" and "My Account" respectively. I wouldn't consider my financial needs that large, it is just as opposed to most people around my age I avoid money and prefer to use my debit card for purchases and transfers to pay other people.0 -
just open a basic account if it is just for emergencies. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0

Since you only keep a small balance in your 2nd account, the interest rate becomes irrelevant.
It may be worth waiting until your 18th birthday when the range of available accounts will increase, giving you more flexibility on which type of account to open.
I still believe you would be better sticking with the devil you know - HSBC.
Don't keep the 2nd debit card in the same wallet as your main card, then you wouldn't use the wrong card and you wouldn't lose both if you misplaced the wallet
(Or if the wallet was stolen)
Do HSBC offer different background picture designs on their debit cards, that would be a simple method of differentiating between the two HSBC debit cards / accounts they apply to, you would need to phone your bank and ask if different designs are available, I have not found anything on the HSBC website ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
