This is what I'm thinking of doing to completely protect myself from ID Theft and would just like to know if this would make me 100% safe.
I've taken out ID Aware and plan to also get CIFAS Protective Registration aswell, I plan to go to my Citizians Advice Bureau to help write up a Notice of Correction and send it off to Experian, Equifax Ltd and Callcredit.
Is there anymore I can do to make it even safer or does this cover me 100% from ID Theft?0 -
If you haven't shopped at the retailer before, study it online to glimpse what other customers are saying. Or call the clientele service number to inquire about their policies and assurances. Write apparently on all credit submissions. Consistently and completely fill in all borrowing and lend applications utilizing your full title, first, middle and last. Limit the number of credit cards you carry. The less cards you have, the easier it is to pathway them.0

Sorry, but I'm new here and don't know where to put this. I'm worried about the recent Playstation Hack and wanted to sign upto an ID Protection deal where if anything was taken out in my name, it wouldn't be accepted and dealt with as a fraud.
BCOBS 5.1.11
(1) Where a banking customer denies having authorised a payment, it is for the [banking] firm to prove that the payment was authorised.
(2) Where a payment from a banking customer's account was not authorised by the banking customer, a [banking] firm must, within a reasonable period, refund the amount of the unauthorised payment to the banking customer and, where applicable, restore the banking customer's account to the state it would have been in had the unauthorised payment not taken place.

It is not possible to 'steal' your identity: you know who you are. "ID theft" was a term invented by Home Office officials to frighten us into accepting Big Brother's "ID cards" (which would have made it easier for criminals to make fraudulent transactions). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good Idea, but what happens when you want to apply for a brand new financial product which requires a credit check?
The easiest way round this IMHO is to use a system which acts as a pro-active deterrent to fraudsters and if this system were to fail (ID Theft was committed) then a way to hold the financial provider liable or a means of fingering the fraudster.
Check this link out. It's FREE to enrol into. Since its intorduction not one single person to my knowledge embracing it has fallen victim to ID theft.
You could call it the Citizens Fraud Avoidance System, rather than the CREDIT INDUSTRIES Fraud Avoidance System.

All monitoring does is inform you, that you are now a victim. That is far too late. You want someone to prevent you from becoming a victim in the first place! Apart from Free ID Protection.
NOT ONE SINGLE CASE OF ID THEFT AGAINST THOSE EMRACING THIS SYSTEM IN OVER 5 YEARS.
in a nutshell, it is a proactive deterrent, controlled by you.
You give Banks/Lenders the ability to Spot & Stop attempted fraud against you.0 -
Since the consumer is fully protected in law anyway - the supplier always takes the hit, paying additionally to a third party to protect you strikes me as having money to burn!0
