Another fun activity if you are within an easy drive of a wind tunnel is indoor sky diving. Amazingly good fun!

I have been to the one in Milton Keynes a number of times. I recommend getting the longer package if you can afford it, the basic 2 minute one is too short - you come out saying 'I want to go again'! 4 minutes is about right for a first time, as it is surprisingly physical (though I can manage it and I am exceedingly unfit, as well as being overweight.)

firstly - good on you! I cant tell you the number of dainty necklaces / bottles of bubble bath that Ive gotten from my ex's parents and never used.

    I suggest -

    - a leather briefcase or satchel. I got one for about £30 a year ago and its fantastic and works well with an androgynous style. Its classic, very practical and looks just as good in London as it does where i now live in Africa. If her laptop fits in it she'll use it every day and it will last for years.
    - conspire with your son to take her away for the weekend - maybe walking somewhere or a city break? you can offer to buy train tickets or the B and B
    - books! nothing better than a well considered book as a gift.
    - a gorilla camera tripod - you can twist the legs around things so its much more versatile than a normal tripod and great fun if her gadget interest extends to cameras. i think these are about £15, but Im not sure.

Alternatively, I have some dainty necklaces and bubble bath available for a very reasonable rate :)
