is it really that straight forward then? it's not that i'm missing something (usually the case!) but it really is that you just end up paying what you'd pay in asda - there's not any great dtd equivalent way of saving?

The best reason for price checker I've found is that Tesco generally have more conditional spend coupons, they also accept lots of competitor conditional spend coupons.
For example, if you have a save £4 when you spend £20 coupon for tesco you could spend the £20 and save £4 resulting in a net cost of £16. Or, more intelligently, you could spend £20 buying products that are half that price in asda, then price check it, creating a £10 voucher. so with the conditional spend coupon you have only actually spent £6.

recently I have been buying the Ben and Jerrys cookie dough in tesco for £4.45. It's only £1.80 in asda so my shop went something like this....

    TOTAL£ 19.15£ 8.201 x BURGEN SOYA AND LINSEEDBREAD 800G £ 1.35 £ 1.00 4 x BEN & JERRY'S COOKIE DOUGH 500ML £ 17.80 £ 7.20 1 x WHITBY BREADED SCAMPI BITES 290G £ 1.59 N/A

cost of shop £20.74 - £4 conditional spend - £10.95 price check = £5.79 net cost. Added to that my staff discount and 40 clubcard points :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Then there are the advantages of price checker where meal deals and wine festivals/glitches are concerned...coupled with the satisfaction of getting one over on mr T :D
all in all, JTD is nothing to be sniffed at!
