Virgin Media Billing nightmare - HELP

I am a VM customer and I am currently out of contract. I have noticed on my bill that they have been charging me for an additional V+ box (£15 pm) that we have never had. I called customer services to explain that I did not have the box, which they did not dispute. They also offered to refund a years worth of charges as in essence i have been charged for something i do not have.
However I simply asked to get it removed off the bill (as i have never had it) and was told i couldnt as it would mean my monthly billing would go up??????????????? They then suggested i take the box and they would install it for me for £90. I promptly told them to sod off as i have gone 12 months without it why would i want it now.
I was then told to contact customer services to get it sorted and was promptly told my bill could not be lowereed as if they changed the settings on billing my tariff would increase.
Suggestions for my next move
I have 2 phone lines
XL BB
XL television
all help appreciated

Sky. They might be more expensive, and when Virgin is working fine their boxes are better (3 tuners mostly...) and their broadband (latency at least) is far better than ADSL, but at the end of the day they're an absolute nightmare to talk to. At least sky are inept but occasionally able to tolerate rational discussion.
If the TV was less important maybe there are others, but realistically you're stuck between these two.0
