When I first ventured into this thread, I found my own little piece of heaven, like minded souls who all found getting a legit "one over" on the top supermarkets and especially Tesco (it seems, bless em) either by exploiting glitches (legally, of course) and/or coupon/offer combining but I did feel a little under scrutiny over how "thankful" I was and a little paranoia set in so I too, in the desperate hope of not upsetting anyone started to thank each and every post (unless it was down right rude or abusive) and yes I also found it a useful marker. Ive often also been amazed at how many thanks my mere number of posts have accrued. Im an active member on PTS (different user name) but since the decline of coupon use (black Friday) the coupony threads have almost diminished which is sad; hence why I find this thread so great. It keeps my couponing spirit well and truly alive. PTS has been invaluable source of information and emotional support to me for other areas of my life, for which on here I am not yet known (I think :o); This thread is buzzing with coupon related info and its great to read other occasional glitches/freebie info slipping into the mix. We've all got one goal in mind, haven't we?

On PTS, its a bit more long winded to say thanks - you actually have to write something in appreciation and I know a lot of people on there would appreciate a "thanks" button instead.

I guess its a tricky task to ask of any forum to get it completely right and its impossible to please everyone.

From now on, especially as the thread is bursting with vitality right now, and it can take ages to catch up, I will write down the last post number I read before logging off as my marker and just thank appropriately but I hasten to add that that is in no way a rejection of the chit-chat and banter. I, for one love it!

I would hope for any newbie, it would be only good manners to say thanks especially for Idlesaver and any other great contribution which helps us all on our money saving journey and has made a difference to our purse or the way we shop.

Its good to clear the air though, we have had a "family conference". I too hope that CW pops back in, - we miss you.

Wombled a nice juicy £6.52 apg yesterday - makes my purse strings smile!
It was only explained to me earlier yesterday why there are so many thanks for each post. I felt the same as you when I first started here. I remember I posted for the first time( and I think it was a question) and when I logged in the next time I had a heap more thanks to my total. I was really puzzled so checked back and found my question had received over 20 thanks. Then I realised very quickly that this thread was unlike any other I had been on- apart from the loads of other positives, everyone seemed to thank every post.
The problem with CouponWoman has highlighted a huge problem with this. why not just use the "go to next new post" function?
click on to the forum and beside the thread is a square with a down arrow". Click that and it takes you to your first unread post. Then you go through the posts and thank the ones which deserve it. Personally i dont usually thank the good morning posts or pure chat as there is nothing to thank- but of course I do like the chat. I do enough of it.( I have to admit to often thanking newbies just because they are new!)
As for thanking Idlesaver's first posts- I didn't need to be asked to do that. I did that as soon as I had read through them.

edit to add- it took a while to write the post and I see dr who who has shown another way to find your next unread post. No excuses now :)

I've done that in M&S as well - the person I gave it to couldn't quite believe too!

I was on holiday in St Ives last year and wanted cheese but only one pack as we were away. The cheese I wanted was BOGOF, so I approached an elderly gentleman and asked if he would like the other packet after I bought it. He was really pleased and waited for me outside the Co-op for his free cheese.
Wow- so many good ideas this morning! BOGOFs do sometimes annoy me as I am pretty sure I will end up throwing out the second one.

For those trying to remember where they were on the thread etc, there is a simple way! When you find this thread on the Discount Codes/Vouchers board the name should be in bold if there have been more posts since you last read it. To the left of the name there is a square with an arrow pointing downwards on it - if you click on this it takes you to the first unread post :) hth

I tend to only thank those posts that I want to thank, for my own reasons.

I can't find DWW's way of bookmarking, is this only on the old skin? I use the new one.

    No you didn't jonty

That is cheating, but ok the night shift will let you claim it today:D Good night Jonty and Good Morning everyone else.

    Morning again Everyone :hello:

Thanks for that Blue, I do try to read all the posts but with the speed the thread is moving I had an awful feeling I might have inadvertantly thanked one I didn't mean to thank.

I went to Tesco's yesterday and wombled an enormous ASDA receipt from one of the trolly's :j. I have just inputted into the ASDA price check site and it said it was out of date :(. When I checked the receipt, it is dated 14/01/11 :(

Just wondering how an ASDA receipt dated January came to be in a Tesco trolly in May

Is it just me or is the link for Flora Pro Activ (the one where you have to sign up to get MOC) no longer working. Can't find where I need to sign up and wanted to print off a voucher now that I need to buy some Flora.

The offer is still there but the link has changed slightly

    That one should work :)
