i simply just don't answer. i wouldn't rush a feed with my baby just because the door knocked. my hubby has a key also my parents and inlaws. but family members know if i'm home i will get there. if it#s important the person will call back.

my postie knows to leave parcels in my porch. if i do have a signed for parcel and he cards it, my mum is a few roads away and i just meat the postie there as i've got id to prove my address etc, or i'll just pop to the sorting office.

I've got a sign saying "we've got a problem unlocking our front door, I have to come round from the back to answer - gimme a few" - generally works

    Or

"I'm glad you have come round, please wait one moment whilst I get my books so I can tell you about my extensive beliefs on how the earth was created. It should take no more than 4 hours, see you soon"

Dare anyone not to run away, whatever their beliefs lol. Keep it vague enough that you don't get anyone knocking with the same belief or then you'll be stuck, lol.

I have recently put a no uninvited callers sign on my door hoping this would work. I was just feeding my baby before bed tonight at 9pm and I had a knock/ring at the door. I asked them to wait a moment while I made myself decent only to find a RSPCA reperesentative at the door.
I was annoyed and told him I was feeding and sent him away. I am sorry that I was rude but I had hoped that my sign explained to callers that I do not want to be disturbed. Does this apply to charity collectors as well. I dont mean to be rude. Do I need to to put a further note on my door to exclude any unwanted callers.

    I would appreciate your comments.

try 'mother with new baby and if you wake the baby I turn into a raging fury at time wasters - legitimate callers may knock a second time but may have to wait until baby has a full tummy'.

We have a "we do not buy/sell at this door, please leave the property immediately"

Its cut down the amount of cold callers we've had, I had the pleasure of pointing out the note word for word to a talk talk rep before shutting the door on him, my OH is not so hot-headed and listened to a woman from the air ambulance for over 5 mins and repeated "thanks, but we really arent interested" every few seconds.

Family know to wait at the door, we dont have visitors coming round un announced/invited but I have 2 boys who will open the door to anyone so it was important we tried to cut down on the sales reps who seem to target us when im cooking tea !

(our sticker came from our local library but is made by the police)

OH is very accomodating too... I walk up behind and say 'if you want money we don't have any.. and we already have religion, windows and utilities.. bye'... and shut the doo.

I am VERY rude on occasions.. even to the local MP :D:D:D:D:D I just can't be bothered.. if I wanted these things I'd contact them.

I did have one twit come knocking who said he was collecting NSPCC.. I offered him the children he didn't seem impressed :p:p

my children are under strict instruction not to open the front door at all!.. it might be a mad axeman or a whole tribe of ninja's or a car full of zombies come to eat their brains.... or worse.. KH's mother!

I just don't answer my door - I live on a main road so get loads of cold callers. I always know if its someone like that as they give up after one knock - although I hate it when they bang really loudly its so rude! my son sleeps in the back bedroom and I've had to complain to the postman twice that he's woken my son up with his loud knocking, although he just shrugged.
if it's someone you know, they will wait and knock again, just stay curled up with baby and ignore them.
