Some council dumps wont allow you to take things away

You then need suitable vehicle to take away the chopped tree. Cut it to adequate pieces then store for next year until its seasoned

I'm so lucky.....the lovely men at my local dump not only encourage it but also help to transfer the wood! I have a Ford Focus so weight can be an issue but I'm just careful about how much I take.

You're right about chopping it (it's a great arm and shoulder work out!) and then storing it until it's seasoned....you do need the space for that.

But.....it's still cheaper than buying those bags of logs (most of which I have to split to get on my woodburner anyway!) at £3 a throw and sooo satisfying :D
