Motorola SLVR Pay & Go Advice Needed

Hi Guys wondered if anybody could help me with query. I have been given a new Motorola SLVR pay & go (tesco) but I have a contract and old Nokia phone with T Mobile. Is there any way that I can use the Motorola with my current contract and if so what do I have to do. Am I right in assuming that it's not just a question of putting my old sim card in, do I have to do some jiggery pokery with unlocking it?

I know it sounds really thick but only ever had contract phones and never really tinkered. But you gotta start somewhere!!!

Cheers

Put your T-Mobile SIM in the Motorola and see if it works.

If it doesn't, it needs to be professionally network unlocked.

Expect to pay about £20, because it's not a simple code or cable unlock. It's a testpoint unlock and requires some minor "surgery" to the inside of the phone!
  • Thanks for the info. Have tried my T Mobile sim but not joy it's asking for some sort of password. Where do you go to get these little blighters unlocked?

  • Local market, mobile phone shop (not the O2, Orange, Vodaphone, Phones4U, Link or Carphone Warehouse-type ones, though - you want to look for the independent ones that sell tacky replacement housings, etc), corner shops with "Mobile Phones Unlocked" signs in their windows - usually misspelt!

Probably not woth the money - the phones aren't that great from what I read - consider selling the phone as is & getting a better one already on T-mobile.

The surgery mentioned involves removing a fixed metal cover inside the phone by force using cutters, again if what I read is true - you will have no chance of any warranty after that.

(Edits done due to typos & making myself a little clearer - I hope, but it is early ;))
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!
