It's a Mastercard Debit Card, I believe Maestro is being phased out.0

They've recently sent me a new card which still says "Maestro" on the top right. Images on their website also still show the Maestro logo. It's a Mastercard Debit Card, I believe Maestro is being phased out.
However, they've now gone to 16 digit card numbers though (rather than the old 19 digits), so you may be right.0 -

Thanks ! Didn't know we had debit Mastercard's in the UK ! Only heard of them being issued in the US.' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

There have been previous posts on here about this. Mainly relating to the fact that some companies have been less than efficient in updating their systems to recognise the existence of Mastercard Debit Cards. I can't explain why you have received a Maestro card, old stock perhaps? Certainly the debit card image on their site today is of a mastercard debit card0

Maestro (in the UK) is basically a re-brand of the old Switch debit card (utilising the same payment network). Debit Mastercard utilises Mastercard's payment network used by their credit cards. Mastercard owns both Maestro and Debit Mastercard.
What's the difference? I'd imagine running on the one unified payments network causes less compatibility issues when using a Debit Mastercard internationally. Although branded the same, Maestro cards run on different payment networks depending on the country/ region you're in.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
