i bought a 2007 car from a nationwide car franchise and am happy with the car but the v5 came yesterday listing 2 former keepers.
i asked the car salesman on at least 2 occasions and was assured it had one previous owner.
the hpi check that they gave me (after trying to get me to pay £100 for ) shows 1 previous owner, which in turn gives me no confidence in that.
the listed previos owner aquired the car april 08 and the car was first registered june 07.
i feel i should be allowed some compensation for this as it was one of its unique selling points,or should i just move on and check the v5 before the sale next time

1 registered owner but 2 registered keepers maybe?

Selling as 1 owner only may have some advantage when selling but after that it doesnt
matter if its 2 or 3.

No extra value so you wont have lost anything.

It could have had one previous owner - to the current reg'd keeper. So two in total...

Bought at 10 months old, Maybe ex daily rental.

    EFA ;)

Anyway, OP - move on, forget about it. I find it very hard to believe you paid a premium for it - number of keepers doesn't make much of a difference unless it's a stupid amount. If you DID pay a premium for a 4 year old car because it had 1 owner and not 2 then you're an idiot.

Clever though - it had one previous owner prior to you buying it - you're therefore the third owner.

When I bought the old Mrecedes a numbr of years back. It was two registered keepers but had been driven by the same guy from new. It had been registered to his company and then reregistered in his own name.

So the garage didnt lie to the OP then. It Did have one previous (to the current) reg'd keeper.

I was valuing quite a flashy E Class a few months ago and the guy said it was 3 owners. When a deal was struck and I HPI'd it, it turned out to be 5 owners and he count understand how it had gained two owners since he bought it as the salesman told him it was 3 previous owners...
