Anyone else having problems with Sky reception

My sky reception is terrible, jumping picture, going on and off, losing satelite link. Have phoned Sky but they are not aware of any problems.
Everything was fine until the Royal wedding started.

Check your dish cable connector in the back of the Sky box. The wire easily works loose.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Had a similar problem with both the sat box (replaced a few times over the years) and the dish. I is good advice to check the connections, if the problem continues get an engineer out. I had the dish realigned last time and have not had any of the usual loss of picture when it rains or the odd cloud passes by! You can buy a cheap alignment tool for sat dishes from diy / electronics stores, if you can safely get to the dish. Good luck.0

Is it alright now because I know many had troubles with reception due to satellite trucks clashing?0

Thats not possible, they would need to align on the astra 2 uplink and transmit at the same frequency as the channel is, and I dont think a little sat truck dish is going to be able to over power the main uplink, its just not going to happen by accident, but does happen when they are intentionality jamming as per al Jazeera.0 -
Does the cable run over the roofline?...If it does, chances are the cable has rubbed raw at the roof apex & water has ran down the cable & rusted the central stinger.Turn power off to the box & unscrew the connector, does the copper stinger look bright & shiny or dull & greeny black? If it's the latter, water has gotten into the cable as I stated.
Secondly, look as the end of the dish arm, sometimes the dish monkeys don't fit the retaining pin & the LNB works itself out of the arm which reduces the focal point of the dish.
Thirdly, are all the channels affected or certain ones,if it's certain one's,then it's most likely the LNB on the blink.0 -

That is the problem, with all the receivers on the same channel to watch the wedding, there is not enough signal being transmitted.0 -

I have had no end of problems in the past 3 weeks with my reception. We moved house 10 weeks ago and the engineer came out very quickly and installed the new dish and the boxes. However, he pointed the dish straight at a tree and as soon as the leaves appeared the channels started disappearing. They refuse to send an engineer out for free even though it is his fault we now have no (as in zero) unaffected channels. They have said that as our box is over 12 months old we must pay even though it is their engineer who has messed up.0

Then just cancel the service, I imagine that might motivate them if you are spending a reasonable amount each month.0
