We have a wifi connection to all three computers. Funnily enough, on the same day, hubbies laptop seemed to have a virus as well - which I managed to clear using Malwarebytes. He uses Ebay quite a bit. On his laptop IE wouldn't open directly on clicking the icon - it wanted you to to choose a program to open it. Not sure if these two episodes are related in some way.

Ok, these are the reports for the other esent files: I have just noticed that Virustotal on running reads for all the files - "Hash found! Opening browser"

Yes it's saying that because the files have been previously uploaded by someone else, and it can tell based on the unique identifier or 'hash' of the files. It's actually been more useful to know that these DLLs have been named other things, suggesting that they don't belong.

Your hubby's comp infection could easily be related, feel free to post the log in a different thread if you want someone to take a look at it.

Run the Combofix as AlienRik suggests.

    Thanks for helping out aliEnRIK.

Sorry to sound like a dunce here but how do I shut down McAfee before I run COMBOFIX? Do I need to uninstall it?

aliEnRIK, when I try to run Combi-Fix, on the first run it downloads fine, on the next stage I get a message about it being incompatible with an OS and then another message saying "you cannot rename Combi Fix as Combi Fix [1]" and then it shuts down. Do you know what this is? I have a suite of McAfee products, I disabled Viruscan for 60 mins, disabled scheduled scans, and disabled antispam but left my firewall on. Is this okay?

You need to download again and RENAME it before SAVING it to 'qwerty.exe'

Yippee!! I finally managed to get Combofix to work. This is the first half of the log. Will put the second half in the next message. I didn't tick "yes" to the request for me to update the "windows recovery console" because I got a bit paranoid about who was asking me to do that and also because I had put the internet in offline mode. If that is a problem I can run it again for you.

    Thanks again.
